Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra, which debuted with a notable upgrade to a 50MP ultrawide camera, is encountering unexpected challenges. This new lens, offering enhanced detail over the 12MP ultrawide cameras of previous flagships, has been reported to shake and vibrate on some units, raising concerns among potential buyers.

Reports on community forum date back to February, and Samsung’s yet to respond
The issue has surfaced across social media platforms like Reddit and X, as well as Samsung’s Community Forum, with users noting that the ultrawide (0.6x) camera exhibits violent shaking and stuttering noises, rendering it unusable. In fact, reports on the community forum date back to as early as March 1st.

Some owners trace the issue to a recent software update, though the exact cause remains unclear. Unlike typical camera shake linked to optical image stabilization (OIS)—which the S25 Ultra’s ultrawide lacks—experts suggest the autofocus mechanism may be at fault, given the lack of OIS mechanism.
The complaint doesn’t appear widespread, though, with only a fraction of the millions of Galaxy S25 series units sold globally affected. This suggests it might be a manufacturing defect rather than a universal flaw. Some users who visited authorized service centers reported the issue was diagnosed as hardware-related and resolved free of charge under warranty.
The problem affects both photos and videos
But there’s a bit of friction in the process. As one user noted on the community platform, affected devices must be sent to the company for a diagnostic test—meant to confirm whether it’s a manufacturing defect. This essentially means the user will need to arrange for a temporary handset.

Videos shared by affected users highlight the severity, showing the camera struggling to stabilize. While Samsung has yet to publicly acknowledge the issue or propose a fix, the company’s response at service centers offers hope. A software patch could potentially mitigate the problem if it’s update-related, though hardware replacements may be needed for defective units.
